Uttar Pradesh’s two Constables named Dhananjay Bind and Mithilesh Yadav allegedly caught stealing a brand new Iphone and replaced with an old Iphone worth around 67,000 – 70,000 Rupees before getting out from a Shop named Shivam Enterprises located in the Line Bazar, Jaunpur. Owner Shivam found the theft through the footage and posted a tearful video pleading for the law to be enforced and him to be compensated. Jaunpur Police quickly suspended both officers, started a departmental inquiry and got the phone back, with the officials underlining that they have punished the offenders severely and that this won’t be repeated.

Police Constables Caught On CCTV, stealing iPhone

The incident occurred on the afternoon of February 7, 2026, at a mobile showroom located in the Line Bazar area of Jaunpur. From the footage and police documents, it appears that two constables, who were later identified as Mithilesh Yadav and Dhananjay Bind, entered the store posing as customers, who came to buy phones.

They are said to have requested the shopkeeper to show them the most expensive models. The CCTV footage shows the pair chatting with the shop staff and carrying out the swap while the salesperson was momentarily distracted. While they were inspecting the Phones, one of the constables is said to have taken a phone from his pocket and cleverly exchanged it for a brand new iPhone.

This incident has sparked debate on social media after the video viral where these two policemen seen swapping the phone. The footage captures the officers smiling and laughing as they walk out of the store without buying anything seemingly unaware of the camera.

The store owner, Shivam, later noticed that an iPhone 15 Max was nowhere to be found. After checking the CCTV footage, he found that one of the constables had switched his old iPhone 13 Pro as a decoy and pocketed the iPhone 15 Max. The stolen phone was worth Rs 1.62 lakh, according to Shivam.

    Official Action and Suspension

Following a formal complaint and the video going viral, senior police officers in Jaunpur took swift action:

    • Suspension: Mithilesh Yadav (who was posted at Baksha station) and Dhananjay Bind (who was posted at Police Lines) have both been suspended from their duties.
