A 3.5-Year-Old Girl has been allegedly raped and strangled to death in Gurgaon in a horrifying incident. The police have arrested a 25-year-old neighbour into custody, who has reportedly confessed to the heinous crime.
Horrifying Crime and Confession
The tragedy unfolded when the little girl went missing from the vicinity of her home. According to Police Report, it is stated that the accused deceitfully lured the child way while she was playing.
Following a desperate search by the household members and locals, the small girl’s lifeless body was found in a deserted spot. Preliminary investigations indicated signs of sexual assault and physical violence.
During interrogation, the 25-year-old suspect—a neighbour known to the family—admitted to the crime. The accused revealed that he strangled the child to death after he had abused her. He explained that the main reason for the killing was to “destroy evidence” and to avoid the child from pointing him out to her parents or the police.
Police Action and Legal Proceedings
The Gurgaon Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
“The accused has been taken into custody and has provided a detailed account of the sequence of events. We are ensuring a watertight case to seek the strictest possible punishment,” said a senior police official.
Forensic teams have collected samples from the crime scene, and a post-mortem examination has confirmed that the cause of death was manual strangulation following sexual assault.
Following the incident, local residents are very angry and staged a protest demanding swift justice and better security measures for children in the neighbourhood. The issue of child safety, especially in urban areas has been raised once again by human rights activists and child safety advocates.
