An awful incident of power abuse at Mathura Railway Station Platform 8 was reported, where a Government Railway Police (GRP) Sub-Inspector physically attacked a local tea vendor for a slight delay in service.

The clash started around 8:20 a.m. on 25 February at Mathura Railway Station Platform 8. As per the witness statements Sub-Inspector Vivek Kumar came up to the tea vendor Suraj (Krishna Food) gave him a milk packet and ordered him to make tea right away.

When Suraj was busy cleaning his Stall and didn’t prepare the tea fast enough. SI Vivek slapped him repeatedly, shoved him, and hurled vulgar slurs.

The event triggered a strong reaction from other vendors and passengers who saw the beating. The local vendor unions have raised their voices in support of the small, scale workers’ safety and dignity at the station, demanding that the staff involved be severely punished.

“No one is above the law, especially those tasked with enforcing it. A delay in making tea is no justification for physical violence,” stated a representative of the local railway workers’ association.

Railway authorities and senior GRP officials have been notified of the incident. While an internal inquiry is expected to follow. Following the viral spread of the CCTV footage, senior GRP officials Suspended Sub-Inspector Vivek Kumar with immediate effect. The event has highlighted the ongoing tension between security personnel and station vendors.

Unbelievable. Without CCTV, this abuse would never have seen daylight….who would believe a tea vendor over a cop?
