A 6-Year-Old Boy named Dikshant Patel Died in a tragic hit-and-run leaving 4 more injured on Lucknow Streets. The child was run over by Gaurav Singh, 21-Years-Old driving his Maruti Swift at over 100 km/h near Hanuman Temple on Kanpur Road around 6 PM and fled immediately after hitting the child causing the anger of the public for reckless and underage driving in the city.

The 6-year-old boy was playing outside his house according to initial reports from the police and the statements of the witnesses. It was said that the driver was speeding and was out of control and that the vehicle struck the child with great force and fled immediately leaving the little boy who was severely wounded lying in the street.
An ambulance rushed him to a hospital nearby, but the doctors declared him dead on arrival as the young man had sustained multiple injuries to his head and internal organs.
Lucknow Police wasted no time in launching an investigation and thoroughly checked the CCTV footage of the several camera installations around and along the expected escape routes. The footage turned out to be very helpful in spotting the vehicle’s registration number.
The police tracked the car to a home in the neighbourhood within a day of the crime. Further inquiry revealed that the vehicle belonged to the house and the person driving it at the time of the incident was the family’s son who was 21 years old. The teenager doesn’t have a driver’s license yet and allegedly had taken the car without the permission of his parents for a joyride that ended in a fatal accident.
Accused Gaurav Singh was taken into custody by the police and also the car was impounded as well. A case was registered against him charged with causing death by negligence, reckless driving, and provisions of hit-and-run. Besides, the matter of the responsibility of the car owner for letting a minor use the vehicle is under investigation.
