A daily routine moment on a railway track in Bihar’s Paharpur turned into a frightening emergency when a high-speed train hit illegally placed timber logs, hurling one log toward a woman who was crossing the tracks. She suffered serious injuries in the shocking incident, which was captured on viral video and has since raised urgent questions about railway safety and illegal practices around train lines.

Illegal Wood on Tracks Hits Woman as High-Speed Train Passes

According to local reports and multiple videos circulating on social media, the woman was walking across the track near Paharpur Railway Station on the outskirts of Gaya district when a passenger train approached at high speed. Railway tracks were reportedly cluttered with wooden logs that had been placed there illegally, likely for unloading or illicit transport.

When the high-speed train struck the logs, one of the heavy wooden pieces flew into the air and struck the woman in the head, leaving her bleeding and seriously hurt. Onlookers and passengers rushed her to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Locals described the moment as terrifying, a normal crossing became life-threatening in seconds. The visuals from the viral clips show the woman collapsing beside the tracks as shocked bystanders react and rush to help.

How the Illegal Timber Comes on Tracks

Rail officials have been criticized for allowing logs to remain on active railway lines. Videos and eyewitness accounts suggest that timber was being unloaded or moved illegally using a passenger train, a practice that not only violates safety rules but also endangers lives.

Residents and social media users have openly questioned the role of railway staff and security personnel in the lapse. Many wondered aloud where the Railway Protection Force (RPF) was at the time, and whether basic track surveillance was being ignored despite clear rules designed to prevent such hazards.

“This could have been even worse if someone else had been on the platform or if the log had flown in another direction,” one resident said, capturing the general shock felt by many in the area.

Woman Suffered serious injuries to her head and Upper body

Medical teams confirmed that the woman suffered serious injuries to her head and upper body. First responders treated her at a local health centre before stabilizing her for further care. Her condition remains critical, according to family members who spoke with reporters. Authorities have yet to release a full official statement on the incident, but a formal investigation is underway. Railway officials are gathering evidence and reviewing footage to determine exactly how the logs were placed on the tracks and who may be responsible.

Social media reactions were swift and emotional. Many people shared the video, expressing anger and concern about railway negligence. Some criticized the authorities directly, calling for disciplinary action against those responsible for clearing and monitoring track areas. “Imagining that log flying into someone’s path is horrifying. This should not be possible on active tracks,” one user wrote in a widely shared post.

Railway officials have reportedly ordered a probe into the incident and have pledged to identify the people who placed the timber on the tracks. Depending on the findings, the case could lead to criminal charges for endangering public safety and breaching railway regulations, as well as renewed calls for tighter enforcement at rural stations. For now, the seriousness of the woman’s injuries and the troubling footage from the site have made this a stark reminder that even in everyday settings, safety cannot be assumed and lapses can cost lives.
